Criticized Embarrassed, Duterte Fuel Threatens UN Building

MANILA - Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte threatened to burn the UN headquarters in New York. The threat was in response to international criticism on the severity measures against suspected drug dealers.

"You go and file a complaint at the UN, I will burn the UN if you want it. I'm going to burn it if I go to America," he said while speaking at a military base in Zamboanga city, southern Philippines as quoted by Russia Today, Sunday (25 / 12/2016).

Earlier, Duterte also denounced the UN Human Rights Commissioner Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein who wants investigation into the recognition Duterte who kill criminals when he became mayor of Davao City. Hussein also asked for an inquiry into deaths during anti-drug war is ongoing.

"This man (Ra'ad Zeid al Hussein) actually a joker or a lunatic. You UN officials, sitting there with your butt, we pay your salary. You idiot, do not tell me what to do. Who gave you the right?" he said.

"Please shut up because your brain is less there. Back to school. You UN, diplomacy you do not know. You do not know how to behave to be a United Nations official.

You do not talk to me like that, you bastard," he told Zeid.In September, the outspoken leader of the Philippines who has refused to meet UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. He even threatened to leave the United Nations after the criticism about the war on drugs.

A UN official told Reuters said it was basically never happens where a leader is too busy to meet with the general secretary of the meeting.
