WARNING: Hundreds Muster Marines In Darwin, US Claims Not Threaten Indonesia

JAKARTA, INDONESIA - ThE United States (US) has just deployed about 200 marines in Darwin, Australia. The US military claimed the deployment of hundreds of Marines not to threaten Indonesia.

A US military commander, Lt. Col. Brian S Middleton said Indonesia does not need to fear the spread of the US Marines. The presence of 200 marines was the first wave of a total of 1,250 US Marines to be deployed in Darwin.

Although reluctant to comment on the issue of military deployment, Middleton claimed to understand commentary Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo last January that questioned the purpose of the planned buildup of US Marines in the Australian region.

Gen. Gatot once commented that he had spent 90 minutes at the port to look at the facilities of the US Marines. He criticized the Australian who hosted the US Marines. He also questioned the need for the deployment of Marines Uncle Sam's land mass is close to the territory of Indonesia.

US Marines are deployed are from the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment from Camp Pendleton, California. The troops will be based in Washington that Robertson Barracks, RAAF Base Darwin and Berrimah Defense Pos.
