WWIII - The Iranian Navy and the Chinese Navy reportedly conducted a joint exercise in the Strait of Hormutz. The Strait of Hormuzt is a strait between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

The Iranian news agency Mehr reported that the Chinese naval fleet that would participate in the war games consisted of the destructive Chang Chun missile, Chao Hu's filling boat, Jin Zhou submarine and a helicopter. The Chinese ships have arrived in Tehran in the middle of last week.

"The practice in the Strait of Hormuz aims to strengthen friendly ties between Tehran and Beijing and to promote maritime collaboration," Mehr's report, as reported by Sputnik on Sunday (18/6).

The exercise itself was done in the midst of a diplomatic crisis in the Persian Gulf after Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed ties with Qatar on June 5 and suspended all communications with Doha, accusing them of supporting terrorism and interfering in their domestic affairs.

Not long after, the Maldives, Mauritius, and Mauritania also announced the severance of diplomatic relations. Jordan and Djibouti reduced the level of their diplomatic missions in Qatar. Senegal, Niger and Chad summon their Ambassador in Doha.
