LONDON - British newest shipbuilder HMS Queen Elizabeth worth 3 billion pounds or more than Rp51, 5 trillion could be drowned with cheap missiles. This was revealed by the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) security think tank in a report.

In his report, RUSI stated that international competitors such as Russia and China have focused their energies on finding ways to counter the Western obsession with "big tent" projects such as HMS Queen Elizabeth.

Previously, the weakness of the British pride carrier was also revealed, which operates with Windows XP is outdated so vulnerable to cyber attacks.

"Missiles at a cost of less than 0.5 million pounds per unit could at least paralyze the British carrier that cost more than 3 billion pounds," said RUSI report. "Indeed, ten such missiles will cost less than 3.9 million pounds," the security think tank report quoted Russia Today as saying (11/7/2017).

The report's authors argue that Britain and its allies are facing an increasing threat from long-range Chinese and Russian cruise missiles. The threats include land, maritime and air platforms.

"It has become much cheaper to destroy major systems and platforms than to develop and build them, making large-scale attacks on one target more likely," added the RUSI report.British Defense Minister Michael Fallon recently mocked the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov by calling it a dilapidated old ship. Fallon told reporters that even Russia would be jealous of seeing a test aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth at sea.

But the blunder was returned by Russia's defense ministry in a statement. "The vessel is just an easy target," the ministry said. The ministry also suggested that the UK's flagship carrier prides itself on not getting close to Russian ships.
