BEIJING - China reportedly held almost massive military exercises in the Yellow Sea. The activity was carried out after the announcement of sanctions worth USD 1 billion targeting North Korea's coal, tin and iron exports (North Korea)."The naval exercise seemed to send a signal if China would interfere in the conflict if the war had to erupt," said Malcolm Davis of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute as quoted by Sputnik , Tuesday (8/8/2017).

But the message was not intended for Pyongyang alone, Collin Koh of Nanyang Technological University Singapore said. "China does this because they want to send the signal not only targeted to North Korea," Koh said.

China's naval power has increased significantly. Last week, China added another monster ship to their fleet, which, according to Peter Roberts of the Royal United Service Institute, was depicted at an unprecedented pace "in any navy in history."

The exercises include direct testing of firearms, attack and defense mobilization exercises, and business integration by ships, submarines and aircraft. "Dozens of missile types will also be launched for more than 10 tests," reports the South China Morning Post.

According to Chinese state media, the Chinese Liberation Army Commander, Shen Jinlong, and other top Chinese military officials will oversee the four-day battle simulation.
