WW3 - China pursues a nuclear strategy for self defense. The aim is to maintain national strategic security by preventing other countries from using or threatening Beijing by using nuclear weapons.

The defense strategy policy appeared in a white paper report released by the State Council Information Office. "China has always committed itself to nuclear policy not to use nuclear weapons for the first time at any time and under any circumstances," the report said.

"And do not use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear weapons countries or unconditional nuclear weapons zones," said the report, quoted from Xinhua, Thursday.

This white paper report on China's nuclear strategy for self-defense is titled "China's National Defense in the New Era".

China says it supports total bans and the complete destruction of nuclear weapons. According to the white paper report, Beijing is not involved in a nuclear arms race with other countries and keeps its nuclear capability at the minimum level needed for national security.

Still according to the white paper report, Beijing is also determined to build a "world class" military in a new strategy. This determination arose when the United States (US) aroused competition among the countries of the great powers.

"The US is eroding global security and seeking absolute excellence, but Beijing will not follow the invincible path of major countries in seeking hegemony," said the report on China's defense white paper. "Focused on having world-class soldiers."

Beijing believes the US is pursuing technological and institutional innovation in the pursuit of absolute military excellence. Beijing also believes that Washington has undermined global strategic stability by investing heavily in nuclear defense, space, cyberspace and missile assets.
