There Is No Fear! China Criticizes US For Fighting With Iran

China criticizes the United States (US) for exacerbating tensions in the Middle East by using force in a dispute with Tehran. Beijing urges all parties to exercise restraint to ensure peace and stability.

"Politics of power is not popular or sustainable. The risky behavior of the US military in recent days is contrary to the basic norms of international relations," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang.

The gang asks the US not to abuse power. Each party is judged to refrain from avoiding conditions that could worsen. He also added that China was very concerned about the standoff between Iran and the US.

"China consistently opposes the use of unintentional or threatened use of sanctions," Geng said.



Geng criticized the US for threatening sanctions against Iraq in response to an Iraqi parliamentary resolution calling for other foreign troops to leave the country.

"We hope relevant countries, especially large countries outside the region, can do more to promote peace and security in the Middle East region, and avoid taking actions that increase regional tensions," he said.

A US drone strike at Baghdad Airport killed Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani. The incident has further escalated the conflict between the two countries which have been at odds over nuclear sanctions against Tehran.

Tehran has openly vowed to avenge Soleimani's death. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump threatened further retaliation if Iran carried out a revenge attack on US assets or citizens.
